Barry was born and raised on the Atherton Tablelands where his Father was employed as Plymill Foreman at the timber and plywood mill in Yungaburra.  Jim Cooper commenced work at the mill c1935 but served WW2 years in the RAAF.  After the war he resumed employment at the mill.  The photos on this website were in Jim's collection and except where noted otherwise seem to have been taken sometime between October 1935 and July 1936.

Jim worked at Brett's Manumbar Mill in SE Qld and was asked to move to Yungaburra when Brett's formed an association with Eacham Sawmills in the mid '30s.
