Barry has been passionate about cars since an
early age and has owned a number of mostly English origin.
Highlights included a Morris Cooper (Mini-Cooper) in the 60's when
they were at their peak. The Cooper was traded on a Triumph
TR3-A which was followed by a TR4 and a TR4-A. An Italian Job
was sampled with an Alfa 1750 GTV as well as that legendary
Australian muscle car, the Phase 3 Falcon GT-HO. Current
"hobby" car is a 1968
Jaguar E-Type, more detail of which appears on the link below.
The TR4-A having been sold in January 2013 and
the E-Type requiring only minor maintenance meant that Barry became
restless and sought out another "toy" to keep mind and body active.
The result was the acquisition of a 1989 Mercedes 560SEC in July
2013 and after some refurbishment sold in December 2014. In
February 2015, after
due consideration, a Jaguar XK8 MY2003 4.2 Coupe was bought sight
unseen from a Melbourne dealer. The service records were thoroughly examined and long conversations
were had with the prior (second) owner. After driving several
thousand kilometres I can happily say that
the XK8 appears to be excellent, a credit to Jaguar build quality
and the care of the previous two owners with only relatively minor
issues having to be sorted.
